FedDev Ontario, Community Profiles of 100 Ontario Economic Development Regions
Mellor Murray was commissioned by the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario) to complete Profiles of 100 communities in the FedDev region.
The Mellor Murray Consulting team reviewed a variety of information sources, consult with experts and stakeholders, and perform other research as needed to produce a series of socio-economic qualitative based community profiles for the communities in the FedDev Ontario region.
The Community Profiles created a rich source of information on the communities that make up the FedDev Ontario region to facilitate rapid response to requests for community economic information by members of parliament and federal staff.
This assignment included detailed economic and demographic analysis including location quotient and shift share analysis, online research on community economic development activity and consultation with local economic development leaders in each community to inform the preparation of the individual community profiles. The completed profiles included key economic and demographic metrics, trends, an assessment of strategic advantages and disadvantages, recent investments and closures or layoffs as well as emerging opportunities and challenges. Mellor Murray also created an excel database to facilitate future updates.
