Town of Halton Hills: Economic Development Strategy 2013

Halton Hills, (pop. 59,000) needed a comprehensive economic development strategy. With limited human resources, a competitive economic development landscape and regional economic development programs, the town wanted to determine the most effective way to build the local economy.

The Halton Hills Strategic Planning Process included a detailed review of existing local, regional and super regional economic development programs, economic analysis, interviews, surveys and facilitated workshops. Regular consultation with the steering committee was an integral part of the process.

The 10-year action plan included strategic priorities, specific actions, lead agencies, budget requirements and performance measures. The strategy was endorsed unanimously by Halton Hills Council and embraced by the business community.

The Town of Halton Hills Economic Development Strategy is a “Made in Halton Hills” solution with affordable, realistic and do-able action items.
