Georgian Bay Township: Community Economic Development Strategy (2014)
Georgian Bay Township commissioned an Economic Development Strategy that would incorporate the Township’s commitment to community sustainability, recognize the interests of seasonal and permanent residents and address the very different economic development priorities in the township’s three main population centres.
The strategy included a detailed review of the local economy, employment trends, population distribution, age and education profiles, market threshold analysis and broad based community consultation. The resulting strategy included specific recommendations and actions that recognized the diversity of the three population centres along with a detailed implementation schedule and resource requirements.
The Strategic Plan provides Georgian Bay Township with a clear and concise action plan to ensure we are investment ready and can maximize the economic impact of seasonal visitors without compromising our natural assets.”
